Privacy
Dates Force is a magazine you can read without an account. This page explains what data is processed when you visit.
Who is responsible
Dates Force is an independent, privately run publication. Details of the operator will be published here. Contact for privacy questions: A contact address is being set up and will be published here..
What we collect
- Server logs. Like any website, our server records technical data for each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser’s user-agent string. We use these logs to keep the site secure and working. They are rotated weekly and deleted after about eight weeks.
- Search. If you use the site search, the words you type are sent to our server as part of the page address and appear in the server logs described above.
- Email. If you write to us, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to answer and to document corrections.
Audience measurement: Yandex Metrica
To understand how Dates Force is read, we use Yandex Metrica, a web analytics service provided by Yandex. When you open a page, a script from Yandex loads in your browser and sends Yandex information about your visit:
- your IP address, browser and device type, screen size and language;
- the addresses of the pages you open, the page you came from and the links you click;
- a recording of how you move through a page — scrolling, pointer movements, clicks and taps (the Session Replay and click map features).
Yandex Metrica stores cookies in your browser to recognise repeat visits. The data is processed by Yandex on its own servers, which may be outside your country, under Yandex’s privacy policy. We see it as statistics and visit recordings, not as a list of named people. Search words are part of a page address, so a search you run on the site is included.
You can stop this at any time: install Yandex’s opt-out browser add-on, block cookies and scripts from mc.yandex.ru in your browser, or use a content blocker. The site works fully without the script.
What we do not do
- No reader accounts, comments or newsletter sign-up.
- No advertising networks and no advertising cookies. Apart from the Yandex Metrica script described above, fonts and scripts are served from our own server.
- We do not sell personal data.
Cookies
Dates Force itself sets no cookies for readers. Yandex Metrica, described above, stores its own cookies in your browser to recognise repeat visits. Separately, sign-in cookies are set for editors who use the site’s administration area.
Advertising and external links
Sponsored placements are served from our own server as ordinary images and links. When you follow a link to an advertiser or to a source we cite, that site’s own privacy policy applies. If we add an advertising network in future, this page will be updated before it is switched on.
Photographs
Images are loaded from our own server; the credit links under photos lead to third-party sites only if you click them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you and to have it corrected or deleted. Write to us at the address above. Because we do not keep accounts, we ourselves usually hold nothing beyond short-lived server logs and any email you sent us; for data held by Yandex Metrica, see the section above.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change; the date below shows the latest version.
